** Qualcomm 2nd largest office outside US coming up in Hyderabad, likely by October

Firm investing ₹3,904.55 crore to expand its Hyderabad operations 

Qualcomm is setting up its second largest campus outside the U.S. in Hyderabad, a 1.572-million sqft facility that is expected to be ready for inauguration by this October.

The California-headquartered tech giant will be investing ₹3,904.55 crore to expand its Hyderabad operations. The investment, to be made over the next five years, will also create employment for about 8,700 software professionals, Industries and IT Minister K.T.Rama Rao’s office said on Tuesday.

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) are jointly launching an M. Tech programme in Industrial Artificial Intelligence.

The 18-month course will be offered online and focus on industrial analytics. It aims at upskilling employees in corporates in the application of AI to industrial problems. The TCS will provide the first cohort of students.

** Nagaland likely to get first woman Rajya Sabha MP

Nagaland is likely to get a woman Rajya Sabha MP for the first time as a coalition of the NDPP and the BJP, having 35 MLAs in the 60-member Assembly, nominated the saffron party’s Mahila Morcha president S Phangnon Konyak as the candidate for the election to the state’s lone seat to the Upper House of Parliament.

The Naga People’s Front with 25 members held a meeting on Saturday to decide whether to support Konyak or field its own candidate, but it remained inconclusive, NPF secretary general and spokesperson Achumbemo Kikon told PTI.
