** Kerala man sets up secular matrimony for the humankind

The mathematics teacher, driven by logic and rationality, created a Facebook page ‘Secular Marriage Matrimony’, wherein he facilitates a platform for people who wish to marry outside barriers of caste and religion, under The Special Marriage Act. “I started a Facebook page in May 2014 titled ‘Mathamillatha Jeevithangal’ (Lives without religion).

There, I shared stories of inter-caste, inter-religious and trans couples who fought against all odds to live together.

** Indian mathematician Nikhil Srivastava named joint winner of Michael and Sheila Held Prize

Nikhil Srivastava, a young Indian mathematician, has been named winner of the prestigious 2021 Michael and Sheila Held Prize along with two others for solving long-standing questions on the Kadison-Singer problem and on Ramanujan graphs.

** Surprise, surprise! Joe Biden’s rights keeper has her roots in Alappuzha

Alappuzha :

Kannankara village and Kalathil family of Alappuzha are rejoicing. For the ‘granddaughter’ of the village has been appointed to a top post in the National Security Council (NSC) of the United States by President Joe Biden.

Shanthi Kalathil, daughter of the late James Kalathil and Taipei national Lucia, was named  the coordinator for Democracy and Human Rights in NSC. 

** MIT students ace IIT Bombay’s TechFest

A team of four students from Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal, recently won the first place at the TechFest conducted by IIT, Bombay, for developing a model that could prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The team comprised Paresh K.V., fourth year student, ECE, Sai Arvind Chinthanippu, fourth year, Mechatronics, Anukul Jindal, fourth year, ECE, and Sreerag Mahadevan Cheeroth, fourth year student, Mechanical.
