Army Chief Gen. Manoj Naravane will inaugurate an Indian Army memorial in the Italian town of Cassino during an official visit to U.K. and Italy from July 5-8, the Army said on Sunday.

Dr Srikumar Banerjee, former chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, passed away on Sunday at his Mumbai residence after suffering a heart attack. Banerjee, 75, had recovered from Covid last month.
The veteran nuclear scientist had retired as the secretary of the Department of Atomic Energy in 2012. Prior to the Atomic Energy Commission, Banerjee had served as the director of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (Barc).
A century ago, in May 1921 the first expedition to reconnoitre and to possibly attempt to ascend Mount Everest left Darjeeling in India.
On it was George Mallory who died on the mountain in 1924 and whose name is forever associated with Chomolungma to give the mountain its correct name.
But also on the expedition were two Scotsmen, Alexander Kellas from Aberdeen and Harold Raeburn from Edinburgh – both of whose mountaineering achievements were arguably greater than those of Mallory. Today they have been largely forgotten.
A team of researchers in the United States has come up with splitters for ventilators that will address the shortage of the life-saving equipment. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, Bengaluru, recently approved the equipment. IndVentr is the Indian partner making the device.
Earlier this year, Shriya S. Srinivasan and her team were in discussion with Indian health officials. But the interest in their equipment was low.
Dr. Srinivasan, a biomedical engineer, is the daughter of immigrant parents. She visits India frequently to give bharatanatyam performances. She did her Ph.D in medical engineering and medical physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard Medical School. She took up Project Prana on the sidelines of her ongoing post-doctoral work.
