** ISSF Junior World Championship: India wins gold in women’s 25m pistol team event

The Indian women’s team of Manu Bhaker, Rhythm Sangwan and Naamya Kapoor clinched a gold medal in the 25m pistol event to continue the country’s domination at the ongoing International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Championship here.

** Mysuru Lad Emerges Canadian National Champion – 2021

Vancouver:

Mysuru-boy Mustafa M. Raja, who won the Provincial Championships in British Columbia last month and was selected for the Nationals to be held in Montreal, Quebec, did well and emerged National Doubles Champion. Mustafa also came third in Singles.

The 14-year-old played consistent tennis all week at the 14-and-under Nationals held at the Carrefour Tennis Centre from Sept. 20 to 26.  Tournament was held outdoors on clay courts.

Mustafa was awarded a trophy for the National Doubles Champion, trophy for the third place in Singles and a silver medal for the provincial standings. With this performance, Mustafa will break into top 5 Singles rankings in Canada. Mustafa trains at the Tennis Centre in Vancouver and goes to Sullivan Heights Secondary School.

Mustafa, son of Murtuza Raja and Farida Raja, earlier train at the Nagaraj Tennis Centre in Mysuru for seven years and attended Excel Public School in Mysuru.

** Srinivas University’s Charles K C creates world record in largest patriotic portrait by screw art

Charles K C, an undergraduate student pursuing BBA Port, Shipping Management & Logistics at Srinivas University Pandeshwar, has created a world record as largest patriotic portrait by screw art.

Charles, a creative artist, set the new record on June 17, 2021.

He made a portrait of Swami Vivekananda measuring 4 ft × 3 ft size on wooden cardboard using 2,768 half-inche iron screws and acrylic paints.

** Kohli first Indian to hit 10,000 runs in T20

Top batsman Virat Kohli has added another feather in his illustrious cap, becoming the first Indian and the fifth player in the sport to complete 10,000 T20 runs.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore captain reached the landmark in the Indian Premier League game against Mumbai Indians at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

** Indian Army officer cycles from Leh to Manali to set Guinness World Record

Lt Col Sripada Sriram of the strategic Strikers Division attemps to cover a distance of 472 kms.

An Indian Army officer is cycling from Leh to Manali in an attempt to set a Guinness record for the “fastest solo cycling (men)”, a defence spokesman said.

** Sania Mirza wins first title of 2021 season in Ostrava

 Star Indian tennis player Sania Mirza won her first title of the season as she and her Chinese partner Shuai Zhang beat the pair of Kaitlyn Christian and Erin Routliffe in the women’s doubles final of the Ostrava Open here on Sunday.

** 24-year-old from Kerala throws 426 punches in 60 seconds, enters Guinness World Records

Rafhan Ummer from Kozhikode recently entered the Guinness World Records for throwing the most full extension strikes on a punching pad.

The 24-year-old from Kozhikode swung his fist an amazing 426 times in just 60 seconds, breaking the previous record set by the kickboxer and martial artist Pavel Trusov from Slovakia. His official count was 334.

With over eight years of experience in Kung Fu and four in boxing, landing punches is already Rafhan’s cup of tea. 

** 8-year-old from Kurnool scripts history, becomes youngest to scale Mount Elbrus

Gandham Bhuvan Jai has become the youngest to scale Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe and one of the seven summits. Bhuvan, at the age of eight years and three months, along with two other mountaineers, reached the summit of Mt Elbrus (5642 mtrs) on September 18.

Bhuvan is a class III student hailing from Kurnool district. His father Gandham Chandrudu is an IAS officer. The two others who were a part of the expedition are Anmish Varma from Vizag and K Sankaraiah from Anantapur.
